Owing to that, some of the rich and powerful people tend to look down on the others while those who are not that well off try their level best to rise from their conditions.
In doing so some end up in crime or even as illegal migrants in other countries a position which makes them end up being taken advantage of, and that is where human, migrant and civil right groups come in. They are available in all parts of the world, and one such group is the Larkin and Lacey Frontera fund.
Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund
The group has been around for quite some time now as it was established in 2013. It has a more in-depth story behind it and was formed after two journalists; Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were arrested due to releasing a publication which revealed some dirty business which the county officials were involved in.
The then-sheriff Joe Arpaio was illegally detaining the Arizona migrants and after Lacey and Larkin who are the founders of Village Voice Media found out they made a publication about it. Little did they know that what they found was just a tip of the iceberg and that it would land them in a lot of trouble. Later that night, the sheriff tried to intimidate them by getting them arrested over false charges. Luckily due to a public outcry, the two were released, and they immediately filed a case against the sheriff and the county at large.
The case went on for quite some time, but in 2013 the court found the county guilty, and the two were given $3.7 million as compensation for the false accusations and tarnishing of their reputations. Instead of using the funds to expand their media business, they used it to start the Larkin & Lacey Frontera fund.
The two had realized that the migrant problem was more severe than people thought and that is why they dedicated themselves to make Arizona a better place for everyone including the migrants.
Today the group is on the front line of advocating for the migrants by ensuring that the deportation and handling are humane. It achieves that by funding other groups which are on the same mission and even those which work against racial discrimination.
Also the Larkin & Lacey Frontera fund, there are many other groups which advocate for human, civic and migrant rights such as the Amazon watch which is a non-profit group formed in 1996 to help fight for the rights of the native people in this area.
The foundation not only ensures the rights of the people but also works to protect the rainforest to provide a better and sustainable world for future generations. Other groups include the American Civil Liberties, Migrant rights international, Advocates of human rights among many others.
